UP bows to Ateneo in “Battle of Katipunan”

Although Bright Akhuetie managed to get the crowd going with the first shot for UP, Blue Eagles Kakou Koume and Anton Asistio were quick to follow through and establish a lead. Top-scorer Juan Gomez De Liano and Paul Desiderio amped up their defense, alongside the Gelo Vito and Jun Manzo tandem that earned them a two-point advantage. Blue Eagle Thirdy Ravena put a stop to UP's short-lived lead, bringing the score to 15-15 before timeout.

Bungled search?

According to the post that went viral around Facebook and Twitter, several UP students were accosted by purported police officers on 24 August 2018, on or about 10:30 PM in an area near Maginhawa Street. These students were allegedly instructed to raise their shirts and took their photos without their consent.

No need for speed? Imposing speed limits in campus

In an interview, Sgt. Wilfredo Desierto of the UP Diliman Police (UPDP) Transport Management and Enforcement Team, said that the driver was not overspeeding at that time. “Ang kaso kasi ay hindi overspeeding. Reckless lang yung driver para hindi makita na nabunggo na niya pala ang biktima sa likod ng sasakyan,” he explained. The driver was identified as Emmanuel R. Villamel, a 71-year-old retired Civil Engineer.
